Eldredge Sewing Machine Serial Numbers

A sewing machine by any maker with a serial number of 500 or less would be considered early, desirable and pretty rare. Low serial numbers by more obscure makers would be even better. At the left is an example of a sewing machine called the Ne Plus with serial # 21. It dates from the mid 1850's. Mar 29, 2014  The older machine, Eldredge badged H5862, on the left and the newer, National badged H53848, on right. Both plates have the R.K. Hohmann patent info and same patent dates 1911-1913. Hook Design: I see differences in the hook design associated with the change in spool can design.
